Welcome to the web page of the ANR project NumBBO!

The four-year*, ANR-funded research project NumBBO aims at the analysis, improvement and evaluation of numerical blackbox optimizers. As a main research topic, we focus on extending and upgrading the COCO platform towards

  • expensive optimization where function evaluations are costly,
  • large-scale optimization where the number of variables can be in the order of thousands or millions,
  • constrained optimization where the feasible search space is restricted by a set of constraints, and
  • multiobjective optimization where more than one objective function are to be simultaneously optimized.

The project consortium contains researchers from the three French partners INRIA Saclay - Ile de France, INRIA Lille - Nord Europe, and Ecole des Mines de St. Etienne as well as the partners TU Dortmund in Germany and the Czech Technical University in the Czech Republic (currently associated partner).

*Lately, the project was extended until July 2017.
